Not Apart From It!

 

All too often, especially around the holidays, we sense some kind of magic, an energy or power, a force around us that we seek to reach out and touch or bring inside ourselves. what is sad about this, is that many see it as something outside themselves, rather than being something that they are part of- something that they create as well as perceive.

This web site is about Hypnosis, and many of you may be reading this wondering WHAT on earth it has to do with hypnosis on any level.  EACH OF US is , in his or her own way, a very talented hypnotist- we in essence hypnotize ourselves into all of our own problems and all of our own joys.  Shakespeare said, in similar words, that: "There is no such thing as 'good' and 'bad,'  'tis only thinking makes it so." and for all intents and purposes that statement is so true.

Most people have heard the story of the man who's horse runs away.... "Bad luck!" says everyone around him... the man says- "Perhaps." The the Horse comes back "Good luck!" says everyone around him... the man says- "Perhaps."  Then the man's son rides the horse and breaks his leg... "Bad luck!" says everyone around him... the man says- "Perhaps." Then the army comes to town and drafts all the eligible boys off to war... But his son is spared because of the broken leg. Good Luck?  Bad Luck?  it is all in your view.

Through the tapes, the articles, the ideas offered on this site you have access to a huge number of resources to help you think of things in just about any way you would LIKE to think about them.  We all have access to those skills every day as they are the same skills we use to create the judgments, the idea of weather a given situation in life is "good" or "bad."  Yet so many choose to feel powerless!

So many, especially at this time of year choose to feel as if the power, the "All That Is"  the Love of the universe is outside of themselves and separate from them.  They see "God"  or Buddha of Jehovah or Allah as being some ONE who's energy they can but dream of tapping in to. But, the fact of the matter is that weather you see yourself as having been created by one of those entities, or weather you believe the universe exploded from a cosmic singularity, that energy is a part of your history and a part of you and a part of who you are.

You do not live outside of love, nor outside of God, nor outside of the magical power of the universe any more than you live outside the earth.  Just as you are bound by what happens to this planet around you, and what you put into the waters you will one day drink into your own body- you live inside a system- inside that energy- inside that love- inside of God.

Science has proven to us that a table is not solid but made up of mostly empty space within molecules that are always moving.  When those molecules cease to move, they collapse and entropy takes over. The "stuff" that makes up that table is the same "Stuff" that makes up the floor, the lamp on the table... and there really are no LINES where the table ends and the lamp beings- it is simply one kind of empty space sitting next to another kind of empty space with energy that rotates and organizes itself to form what we see as matter. There are no boundaries between these energies- there can not be as the objects the energies are mostly empty space in motion... it is their relative motion to each other that keeps them organized as individual things.  So too it is with people... so to it is with the universe of planets rotating around suns and spinning in space.

Those planets set up a harmonic, just as the lamp sets up a harmonic on the table and we are all part of that harmonic.  That harmonic was set at the time of creation- weather it was by the hand of an omnipotent being or by some huge coincidental explosion.  Leave a mark on a  rock it will be there for years to come.  that act of creation left it's mark as well and that mark is there and perceived by and interacted with by everyone and every thing since then.

So, at this time of year, the holiday season, we often watch a chaotic blur of gifting, buying and rushing- we often see people in pain or experience our own sadness and pain- yet we also must realize that we are a part of that universal energy- that totality of ALL THAT IS and we have access to that infinite power for love and transformation in our lives.

You can sense it for yourself....  Get a small live plant from a nursery- someplace independently owned where the plant was grown there.  Find a rock in nature some place.  Sit quietly and center yourself.  calm your mind and your thoughts. When you're ready, hold the rock in your hand, and imagine that you can see the molecules inside spinning, then extend that imagined vision to your own hand, and then see those energies spinning near each other hovering in some endless space.  Let those imagined molecules blend a bit and join with each other in a way that for a moment you allow your hand, and therefore your whole being to have some awareness of the consciousness of that rock. Now....  realign with your own consciousness and allow the rock to be separate and in itself, and then repeat this process with the plant.  Note the differences in your experience, your awareness- and note the difference if you do this for the first time and then again for the third time.

Now, extend that experiment into an awareness of the earth below you, the clothes you are wearing, then beyond to the ocean, the water, the water vapor rising up to the clouds.  Extend that to the air the clouds are touching for it to has substance and molecules.  Now from the air to the space around the air and the other planets and to the very source of the energy of ALL THAT IS.

Now, bring your awareness back to you as an individual and part of all that. realize that at the holidays and indeed at every time of year, the magic is IN YOU and part of you and you are there to enjoy it, to share and to spread that awareness to those you know and love!
